The Kiddie Pollercoaster

Another week gone by! Hello!! I haven’t gotten back to the acrylic painting yet. I have been working on some small watercolors, putting to good use a how-to draw cute animals book I got from the Japanese Creative Bookstore! Drawing tour of Nandemo ikimono by Yuri Yokomizo Hands down the most valuable book I have right now. I also purchased an art from Aya Takano for nearly half off. Aya Takano is the artist I wish I had known I could be. She’s a year younger than I am (I’m pretty sure it’s younger) and if my life had gone differently maybe I could’ve done something with my life. Le sigh… I also bought a how-to watercolor and an encyclopedia of clothing elements to help draw cute clothes.

I decided to use the polls feature at long last! Not that many people subscribe to this. If you would like to recommend this Substack to your friends I would love to have more subscribers! Please send links to your friends! But I would like to know what you would like to see my art on. And I use the term art loosely. We all know I’m not that good. But I am looking at slowly building up more products. I can’t make much now. But maybe? Someday? Anyway, let me know in the poll below!

I have art too. It’s another gouache practicce piece. I painted this during a game and it was kind of sloppy. I also very badly need at minimum two desk lamps.

I still can’t get used to gouache. I keep treating it like watercolor and trying to blend it on the paper and shit but it’s not and I can’t get it through my dumb brain!

The latest art bee in my bonnet is isometric graph paper! Actual paper pads of isometric graph paper. I have seen so many people draw cute “environmental blocks/cross sections” and it’s in isometric perspective. And I want to try! But of course it has to wait for funds. I should go see if Staples has it though. They just might.

Speaking of gouache, here is the worst piece I have done to date.

There is an artist on Insta I follow (I am following a shit ton of artists on Insta even though I was trying not to do that) who does little gouache cats and anthro animals without inking anything and I was trying to do that but failed. I shouldn’t have used color pencil on it either. I don’t know why, but there are people who can do amazing multimedia work and it’s harmonious and beautiful. But that’s not me.

I have a ton of projects I want to work on but not enough time. I was also hoping to get back into writing but that hasn’t happened yet. There are so many things I’d liek to paint and I’d like to have the time to sketch for hours.
