Holy crap that took forever! And I spent DAYS putting in the black background. And also I HATE butterflies! And next time I gesso it FIRST! I’ve seen people do it this way, filling in the black post painting all the color bits but… well, this sucked. HOWEVER painting over black gesso would have changed all the colors! So… well, I dunno…. Those dumb Posca paint markers might have saved my ass a few hours/days work if I had them. I’m not sure. Anyway, next up is my Pokemon watercolor. And the acrylic mermaid painting.
PLEASE tweet/post the link to my Ko-fi! OK thank you! https://ko-fi.com/post/Wizard-Cat-C0C53KR06
Oh—putting in that black background does look like a lot of work. I’m not sure how it could be done more easily unless you were painting totally opaquely over a solid black ground... Your colors all pop nicely this way.
I THINK the Posca paint markers might have helped on the closest bits. But I did use it on the gesso to sign my name and it came off when I put the glass medium over it. If I had dabbed it on then it might not have. I also used the white pen on the glowy stars and painted over them with regular acrylic and had no problem.
