Oooh, I like your painting! How big is it and I what mediums did you use, and is it on canvas—stretched?

I think you can sell paintings like this. Cats are popular.

The bookmark is cool, too. Symmetry isn’t that important unless it really makes the image wonky. Sometimes it can add charm. 😎

Good luck with the show.

Thank you! I'm so glad you like the painting! It's a 12"x12" cradled birch panel. I haven't painted on canvas on years but I have some canvas boards to practice on. I am going to try a few more in this same vein.

Those cradled birch panels are nice!!! Canvas is crappy for any delicate linework.

As far as I can tell canvas is good for texture and I feel like I'm missing out sometimes? I have to try it out see if I can cope! I LOVE the birch panels though! I am addicted!

Canvas is okay for certain styles. Stretched is better than board because the board isn’t very strong or archival—but it will give you the same texture. Stretched, of course, is easy to rip or tear if you’re not careful.

Most illustrators like something super flat and smooth, like illustration board or Masonite, or the very lovely Birch! 😁

True!! I used to work on stretched canvas in the good ole oil days. I bought the canvas boards to see if I like it with acrylic. And it's not like my work is going into galleries or even being purchased So it's good to have a go! I'm not sure I'll like it, I'll probably just keep working on wood panels. Maybe try a few other things. I'm not sure yet. I've used illustration board but it buckles more than I'd like.
