Well, I have succumbed to one more doll. Aimerai released a green resin Yuyuko (the sharky girl) with sharp teeth and two mouth parts. I have had my eye on Yuyuko for AGES, ever since she came out. I pictured her with green teeth and a green tongue making her the perfect Jenny Greenteeth, a British fairy hag with green skin and teeth who lured people to a drowning death. You can imagine my surprise and delight when Aimerai made a green skinned Yuyuko with a painted green tongue making THE PERFECT Jenny Greenteeth! I put her on layaway with Denver Doll Emporium. I ordered the face-up but not the full set as the witch theme isn’t right for a watery fae.
So I have TWO incoming dolls…
Would anyone be interested in me painting watercolors of Pokemon? Sometimes I think they might sell. But most of the time I think they won’t so I never get around to it. There are some really good Pokemon watercolor artists too, so it’s a bit intimidating.
I promised I would post that catscape watercolor to Ko-fi an I did! It’s available in my Ko-fi shop. It’s priced at $35 which I think is pretty reasonable? It’s 5x7 so you can frame it immediately!
The Tiny Art Show is also right around the corner! I am trying a THIRD iteration of a tiny catscape. First I painted it on 3x3 shikishi board which didn’t work. Then I transferred the drawing to a 3x3 birch panel. I was painting it, but the 3 hrs a day (or less and it’s mostly less because lunch and drying time chip away at that time block) I get in the studio was not enough to make headway before the acrylics dried up. So NOW I am trying it on acrylic paper (paper for acrylic painting, not paper made of acrylic). I am trying to use Seth Fitts’ process as seen on Instagram. I’ve been following his work for a couple years, having discovered him on Pinterest. But this year I am stuck with watercolor or something like the above technique where I can use one or two acrylic colors out of the tube.
This is my first attempt at using the process Seth Fitts showed on his Insta. It’s not done but I took it as far as I could. Mistake #1 not using paper. Mistake #2 Using the cheapest goddamn wood panels I have ever used. I sanded it but I am lazy… I used the cheap ass panels for my unfinished Halloween cards, but those were going to be greeting cards so the final piece doesn’t matter as much they were just going to be scanned and printed. Anyway, I’m kind of sad I ruined a cute drawing. The bird is ASS though. I may have incorrectly invested in heavy bodied acrylic, BUT all is not lost! I just need to buy some more flow-aid and then I can thin them down a bit.
Oh- Banana and Noodle, my two foster cockatiels got new foster! So I am down to Sam and Lyle (and Mattie). So, if Sam and Lyle can get a new foster placement I will back to arting all day long! Well, I mean I get art done by working on it off and on all day long. But you get the point! So fingers crossed I can get back to work soon!
If you are curious about cohousing- it gets a mention in this New York Times Ezra Klein podcast about loneliness.
Little horror gem on Tubi worth the watching Arctic Void. I stuck around for the entire credits and it was worth it! Apparently shot in just 16 days by 16 people! And they made a decent movie shot on location in Svalbard!
Well I hope you all had merry holidays and got lots of presents! And or meanigful gifts and time with family and friends that you enjoyed!
The Aimerai girl is amazing!
Hope you had a Happy Christmas. 🎄
