Hello again on the regular day! I finished another painting! It’s OK. There are a lot of things that I think could have been better but I was trying out a flatter gouache look and practicing those folk art flowers. And I was 90% sure I would start a watercolor gouache painting next but I did not! I started another acrylic. I am also waiting on a massive order from Jerry’s. It is more acrylic paint and some paint brush packs along with 3 riggers! For anyone who doesn’t know they are long bristled round brushes for painting lines.
Anyway, no title for this one. I’ve been calling it Doggo Portrait. I’ll come up with something later. I’m slowly getting the paintings added to my Ko-fi shop and that Catscape SOLD! Wheee!!!! I’m also going to visit a local print shop and see if I can get the paintings put on greeting cards.
I used a minuscule amount of Turner acrylic gouache on this. And honestly, Turner is cheaper per tube than Holbein and WHY AM I NOT BUYING MORE OF IT?? Instead my current Jerry’s cart is full of Charvin and Golden… Sigh… Right now my art is all over the place and I feel like I’m losing some of the threads but perhaps moving towards something as well. I just need to keep trying all sorts of things. If you follow my on Insta you can see the ugly snapshots I post of the works in progress. I don’t post full pics of anything on it. Not that an AI would WANT to learn from my art… The programmers are looking for high end shit they can scrape. I did listen to a good podcast about AI saying it’s gotten about as good as it’s going to get and it’s not actually amazing: Offline Podcast. There is a long interview with an expert on AI. Basically Skynet isn’t here, it may or may not even happen. Right now its topped out but that may not last.
There is no way I can spend on art supplies in July what I spent in June. So the Jerry’s cart will be changed/purged in favor of something cheaper. I have an expensive book cart order waiting in the wings as well but it gets pushed back every month.
I have been sitting on some marker artwork too! So here is a Pokemon trainer I drew! The pose is based on a photo I saw on Pinterest.
I fucked up inking the hand so I to “fix” it with a glove. I posted her in a game Discord and someone asked her team so I had to think one up quick. Her team is a Scorbunny, Hisuian Growlithe and Timburr. Here is a weird tidbit about me: I always want to use super bright colors and pastels and I envy so many painters who are using whole rainbows of color harmoniously. Then when left to my own devices I am like “OMG, I need more earth tones and neutrals! Terre Verte is the best color. Give me all the deep greens!” Of course right now I am limited to the markers I have on hand which is one of things that make markers a bit frustrating, you can’t mix your own colors unless you have empties and the bottles of ink. They are limiting but not always in a bad way, just in an “I need to buy more colors” way. I’ve said this before, but I enjoy being able to slap color down fast so I have something finished to post on the web or for a game. It’s so much easier than having to get out the watercolors.
Well, have a great weekend everyone!! I hope you’re all doing well! I’ll leave you with some more photos of the Square Foot art show.
