Watercolor Melancholy
Hello again!!! Has anyone watched any of my movie recommendations on Tubi?? They should make me a paid brand ambassador I swear! I could sure use the money!!
That is my main lament this week. To many things to buy that I don’t want to splurge on. The worst offender is Volks! Which is pretty rare to be honest. I don’t even try for their lotteries and crap. I would throw someone under a bus for an SD13/Graffiti Lorina which they have for their holiday lottery this year. HOWEVER this time it’s a dark horse- The FCS SD16 girls! I kind of LOVE Diamond!
She has such a unique face, oddly classical, a little sad, and mature without going for the realism of other companies who are basically sculpting in proportion people. Realism doesn’t appeal to me at all. I like the exaggeration of Volks. So she is one of several FCS (Full Choice System) dolls on offer this month but she’s upwards of $800. To get her the way I want it would take $1000. But the FCS dolls are offered irregularly and the head line-ups change so you kind of have to jump on them when you can or it can be a year or more before the opportunity arrives again. And that’s only IF Volks keeps offering the FCS service in the US.
There is also a brass nib dip pen designed to hold ink like a glass pen from Jetpens that I want. Freaking thing is $98 for the nib+holder. I want it to apply liquid masking fluid and acrylic ink to paintings and such. I was thinking about getting a glass pen, but honestly I think I’m too clumsy. I will instantly break it SO the expensive, but longer lasting solution of the brass nib is probably a better option for me.
Mattie is still in quarantine which is difficult. I need to get back to painting and the other birds. Though I STILL haven’t washed my wet palette. It’s dry but needs like bleach wipes? And the sham should go through the laundry? Anyway I just want to paint…
The next thing I am melancholy about is writing. I FIXED another book I drafted years ago- had an epiphany on how to make it work, but I sure could have used that idea 4 years ago! This is something I’ve noticed, it takes me literally YEARS to problem solve on my own books. And it sucks! Now I am burnt out and have little to no motivation to go fix anything. So it’s just stupid. Like everything else in my life- day late and dollar short.
This is the last watercolor I painted right after my uncle died. I needed to make art. It’s a bit melancholy but it came out all right. I really like those Kuratake Gansai Tambi. I can see why they are popular. They go on really well and the colors are intense. I used that set as the primary colors and a few others for accents. I only have a limited palette of Gansai paints so I need to augment with my other watercolors.
This features my all time favorite subject matter—oversized cardigans!! Haha! I actually drew another little watercolor that I haven’t gotten to yet. My writing nook is not set up to art at.
I’m still drawing Pokemon for the Faketober challenge though! I’ll have so many Fakemon when I’m done with this Some are better than others, for sure. But it’s been a good time. It’s totally messed up people seeing my stuff on Insta. Its better to post less than more, so posting daily means people actually miss a lot of my art unless they are looking for it.
Anyhow, no “things I’m watching” this week. Haven’t watched anything of note. Have a great weekend!!! And don’t forget to share this newsletter and post links to all my crap on your socials! It could help me out!!
