More tiny watercolors! I finally tried out using only two watercolors for a single piece. I have seen pieces using that technique before and they are beautiful and I always wondered what colors they used. But the answer is- Any two contrasting colors will do! I was also inspired by the Yukoring art book I purchased not too long ago. One of her works is painted with only two colors and she does such a good job! At long last I worked up the nerve to try it out using orange and ultramrine.
I’m not unhappy with it! I messed up on the shirt collar. But it wouldn’t be a ME work if I didn’t fuck up something that is hard to fix and only notice it AFTER inking it. Next I want to paint one using sap green and burnt sienna and purple and orange (inspired a newer piece by Yukoring I saw on Insta).
The art projects are also going well! In fact I’m thinking of purchasing a couple of panels at a local convention called Direbrook. It’s a dark fantasy con and I might have enough work finished by then to fill a couple panels. I believ this is the cons second year. Last year I recieved the info about their art show (since I’ve put work in the Orycon art show before) but was in no place to work on anything. This year I cannot STOP painting. I want to paint so many things with so many different media that I don’t have the time and space for it all.
In things I like: More Tubi recommendations! LOL! I am one of their main patrons I guess! I watch it an awful lot! Maybe too much?? Anyway, I ran out of episodes of Love if Blind UK. I won’t spoilt the ending. You have to watch the reunion episode to fid out which couples made it and which didn’t. Anyway, Tubi has a hilarious older horror/slasher movie about funny cannibals called Motel Hell, and it’s an absolute classic horror flick. Also watched a great K-horror flick, Mimic. Finally I want to recommend a fantastically fun and funny British (kids) film St. Trinian’s. I honestly laughed out loud a lot. Lastly, my favorite horror podcast Ruined is ruining spider movies this month and it’s a hoot! I can’t reccommend this podcast enough. Last month the theme was “bogs”.
Have a great week everyone!!
I think your two-color piece looks great! I don’t think I’ve tried that before—maybe way back in Art classes— but it definitely didn’t come out looking like anything decent.
Oh—good luck with the con art show. That’s often a good way to sell art. It can take a while to build interest sometimes—like doing a show several times, so people start to know your art. It also really depends on the show —some cons aren’t as well attended as others, etc.
You can also send art out to cons. Most people test this by buying a single panel and shipping prints, and seeing how sales go.
