Should shitening have two ‘t’s?
Literally these videos are a week old and already outdated! Shit is WORSE now. I can’t believe there are still articles about upcoming movies to go see, as if everything is normal when it’s NOT. Skip the first two thirds of this post if you are just here for art and whinging. Nature photos are at the bottom. But if you are into the politics I hope to become a tiny resource of links to accurate information by people smarter than I am.
A few of you out there might be looking for a third party. And well, there are a few to choose from, join one or all. One of the most viable is the Working Families Party. They recruit and run down-ballot candidates all over the country. They frequently endorse various Democrats but they are their own entity as well. Here is one of their mass calls (Zoom) which they conduct.
And a great article about the threat to abortion access and healthcare
And here is a dose of (and I kind of love this new word/portmanteau) hopium. Stacy Abrams had Cory Booker on Assembly Required and the result is a one hour pep talk.
This maybe odd to say, but I find Stacy Abram’s voice incredibly soothing. It helps that what she says is also important and she’s super smart, and it’s delivered in a tone that can talk me off the ceiling.
Oh, and worried about the firings at the FBI? You should be.
In environmental news: It’s bad y’all. Here is an article about our warming oceans and WHY.
Art: I finished this terrible piece. Funny story. It was originally a drawing in my sketchbook that I ruined with markers. Then I traced that drawing and transferred it to watercolor paper. I couldn’t think of a background and I didn’t want to ruin it. That was a year ago. Fast forward to this year and I watched some videos about spontaneous watercolor landscapes on the YouTube channel Mind of Watercolor. “Inspired” I decided to create a spontaneous watercolor landscape background. Whelp… I ruined it anyway! Wheee… This is going straight into the drawer, there’s no point in even trying to list it on Ko-fi. The only work of mine that sells is catscapes. I’m thinking of trying some Pokemon watercolor sans trainers because those MIGHT sell but I doubt it. I’m also not the strongest Pokemon artists.
Anyway, at least it’s done… I started a limited palette series of exercises that only got to the sketch stage when I stopped to do this. It is what it is I guess… I will tell you this, I cannot make a Jerry’s order this month. Which is sad for me, but it’s not like the supplies won’t be there. I have a couple of Pyrrole reds from the Windsor&Newton student acrylics in my cart, waiting in the wings. I watched a painting tutorial on YoutTube and the guy was a big fan of Pyrrole red which I don’t have. I have Cadmium and Alizarin Crimson of course. I am also the proud owner of TEN tubes of Daniel Smith watercolor! I have four tubes of Holbein and 5-6 tubes of Turner. The Turner Terre Verte I bought was terrible though! I sort of don’t count it. It’s a gorgeous color but it’s all binder so it’s gooey and just lifts off the paper without adhering. I found that out on that slug painting which was a commission so that was really disappointing. I love an earthy green. I made a GREAT discovery on Dick Blick too. The Derwent Inktense paint pan sets have refills that Dick Blick sells. Which means I can buy all the half pans of Racing Green I want! It’s the BEST green. I love it so much!
Some more of my nature photos. Breathe and relax for a minute
