OK, the next big protests are June 14th! They will take place all over, in towns small and large. You can click the link to find out more. And what are we protesting? *Waves hand at everything*
Fleeing the country is a privilege and most people don’t have it. Cost being the main factor and fun fact: 60% of Americans can’t afford basic quality of life The article is frustrating because it keeps talking about the bottom 60% and isn’t that like a MAJORITY?? Jeebus fucking Christos, what are we even talking about?!?! The bottom 60% is like everyone.
But the fight against fascism keeps going I guess.
Ahhh yes, other people living out my dreams, always a great emotional boost (insert sarcasm here). Eleven families joined together to create a new development filled with shared space. It makes me sad that all my dreams are dumb pipe dreams, but I have learned to live with the constant disappointment (mostly with myself).
In art news I am working fast on my piece for the 12x12 show at the local art supply store. I’m not sure it’s the best use of my time, I should be trying to get into galleries… But it’s another catscape! One of the teacup ones. It’s less intricate because there is still the Strive/Thrive show I want to get into. And the deadlines are days apart. I also have drive the Chromantic piece to Portland next week. My hope is that it will sell and I will NOT have to pick it up. That’s the dream anyway.
Here are some WIP pics of my piece for the Square Foot Art Show at the local art supply store. I should have skipped it this year to work on pieces for the two gallery open calls that I’m missing out on because getting into ACTUAL FUCKING GALLERIES is what I’m doing this for except I can’t make good decisions because I’m a fucking idiot.
It’s based on this sketch:
The cat will have a friendlier expression and the details are shifting during painting but hopefully it’ll turn out OK. Could I do this better in oils? I keep thinking everything I do would be better in oils. But it’s not a given. I just can’t paint.
Hamilton book store (that online overstock seller I buy from a lot) had a bunch of stuff that was too good to pass up. So that was my main splurge this month. I did make an order from Dick Blick. It turned out really expensive even though I didn’t buy much. But at long last I am getting a tabletop easel and some more acrylic paint brushes. One of my #2 round brushes is terrible and the #2 round is one of my go-to brushes. I’m also looking for some stiffer brushes. I bought a number of Princeton mixed media brushes, but some of them are WAY to soft for acrylic so I’ve retired them from the acrylic brush jar to the watercolor brush jar.
Got nothing else good to say. I am constantly overwhelmed by everything. Or maybe I should say I keep running head fist into walls and it’s tiring. Still no prints, still no Photoshop 7 disc. Barely listing items for sale because no one is buying. Took some snaps of irises up the block though and they turned out nice.
Yeah… 60% is the majority. This country is just a disaster!
Love your cat in teacup—especially that teacup rendering. Looks so smooth and creamy! Pretty shading colors (complimentary colors).
That iris photo looks like a cool painting!
