Things are BAD. BAD bad: Idaho is not a safe place, and it hasn’t been for a long time but this is really awful. I saw the video and it’s terrible. Here is a link to an article and the video is optional. I should say no one died or anything though. WATCH: Woman is forcibly removed from Idaho town hall meeting by plainclothes security workers. Its a PBS article. But things are bad an accelerating.
The worst of the stupid and most obedient brownshirts are getting elevated to positions where they can do REAL harm.
Additional info on protests and boycotts- the only thing new here is a call for a National Strike. Missing is the Nestle and General Mills boycott. Consistent is the economic blackout Feb 28.
Sometimes it’s hard not to sad-buy things. But I have my eyes on the prize. The prize being the annual birch panel factory seconds sale at the local art supply store! I really blew it this month, going nuts on that Leeke World wig sale. But the wigs are so nice!! I need to take some doll pics. Last year I bought two wigs in preparation for the Mildred Hubble doll I STILL have not gotten. They were cute wigs with braids which I ordered from Denver Doll Emporium. The size listed was 7/8, perfect for an MSD. BUT I have tried them on repeated MSDs and they are too small, they have no stretch, and they’ve just been sitting around while I look for another braided wig for Mildred (the Asleep Eidelon Ding Dang in normal skin I keep swearing I’ll get). It took me this entire time, and reading the measurements for Volks Super Dollfie Cute, to realize that those wigs will fit my SDC Mina and May.
SOLD: Starry Window will be heading to it’s new home. By the time you read this it will have arrived.
And I told you I have sketching a ton in my kraft sketchbooks.
I traced this and transferred it to a sheet of watercolor paper. Carefully added a decorative border. Approached it thoughtfully, and smartly. Planned out my colors. And then I RUINED it. I wanted a sharp edge around the cat so I used some old masking fluid to outline, decided the line was too thick and chunky so I rubbed it off and it tore the paper. NOW I am locked into a fucking acrylic painting on watercolor paper and thanks, I hate it. I am trying to get it done for an open call at a gallery for a charity show benefiting Habitat for Humanity but I don’t think I’ll get it done in time. I have missed opportunity after opportunity in the past few months. I just can’t create a backlog of gallery worthy art fast enough to take advantage of these shows with open calls. It also has to be framed and ready to hang and it’s an awkward size.
I really wanted to get more art done. I am working up the nerve to roll out my new wet palette. In the meantime I’m still using the old lidded palette which is working but not amazingly.
Here are a couple of the practice pieces I finished. I’ll slowly post all of them. But they only came out so-so.
I cannot get a photo of this to save my life. I SHOULD scan it in but I hate scanning stuff. This was done with two colors.
I’ve been waffling on listing these for sale. Also I swear I posted this before… Apologies. The last month has been the longest year of my life.
Focus and slowly breathe. Inhale, exhale, repeat 10 times slowly.
I need to remember not to buy anything today!
Cute dolls and wigs.
Good luck with getting art done.
