Tech Trouble Part Deux

OK! That title is a deep cut reference to Hot Shots and Hot Shots Part Deux. However I have another tech problem. My ancient Samsung laptop (literally held together with tape and string) is no longer recognizing the SD card from my camera and I have cute doll pics trapped on it!! The Dell doesn’t have the right size card slot so now I have to buy a USB card reader with all the slots. I KNEW this was coming, I had just hoped to put it off longer. So unfortunately I only have THIS for you. I made this for the Wanderhome Secret Santa on the Wanderhome Discord. It’s a great community! This is a family of Kith (NPCs in Wanderhome world) for my recipient to add to their campaign. Scanning it turned into a nightmare. I drew it on Fabriano multimedia paper but the paper buckled. Despite all attempts to flatten it. Then is scanned like ass and I had to do to much correcting in Photoshop. THEN I accidentally deleted the color in ne feather and had to use the clone stamp tool to fill it back in. The original is a lot better than this

Anyway, it was lovely Xmas! I got a wonderful how-to art book called Imagine a Forest and I love it! I DO still intend to break out those acrylic gouache… maybe this year will be the year! I need to use my acrylics more, gain more confidence with them, then acrylic gouache.

In TV news- I finally watched S1 of The Witcher and it is everything the hype promised! I really enjoyed it! Geralt’s tiredest “fuck” cracks me up every time! It’s his go-to reaction to everything! I also binged F is for Family in slightly under two weeks. It’s hilarious (and also on Netflix). I’m also making myself watch Shadow and Bone the show based on the uberpopular YA novel series. It’s okay, but I am not a YA person. I tried to like it, I really did. I just don’t care about horny teenagers and their stupid problems. Or special chosen ones with super special one-of-a-kind magic powers who are the only ones who can save the world but of course are also cute girls who don’t think they’re cute.

In writing news: there isn’t any! I’m going to try to get my shit together again and 1- finish that adult novel I started and wrote 2/3 of in 2019, and 2-edit the short story I wrote for the Advanced Short Story Class. I think I can add more to it, get in the right details and even a flash-back which I want to feature. If I finish it I might try two places I know that take novella length stories- not that it’ll be that long, I just need a magazine that takes short stories over 6K wordcount. I actually have a couple of scenes I’d like to add.
