Ok, by not writing I mean I am barely working on my revise and resubmit. I “work” maybe an hour a day. I set aside two hours which is down from three, and of those two probably half of it is fucking around on the internet. Now it is just slow going because I’m practically rewriting the entire middle section. So I go in and rough things out, add in the character who is new to this section (she wasn’t in the original) and then I have to keep going back over it to add and rewrite and type in longer bits, and work things out on paper and then after awhile I have smoothed out all the rewrites and it’s a coherent, and practically brand new chapter. And I actually DID write an entire new chapter from my second POV character. But it’s slow going and I am working on it less and less as the weeks and months go by and nothing changes or gets better.
I’m not sure if I’ve just hit a “pandemic wall”. I see people on Twitter complaining of that and saying it’s real. But that is just them. Or it could be depression. Again- I am having a non-career crises, as in my LACK of a career- of meaningful work- is the crises. But, there isn’t really anything to be done about it. Quit writing. Keep going. Try to focus on better/happier thoughts. Which works, but is hard to maintain. Be happy no matter what would be the ideal. But again- easier said than done.
Anyway! I got my Jerry’s Artarama order a couple weeks ago and the acrylic brushes I ordered ARE LONG HANDLED! ARG! I’m not working on large canvases so long handled brushes are pretty useless right now. I set them aside. I CAN use them on my small works of course, it’s just a little clumsier. But it was an annoying mistake to make. Luckily I bought the brushes mostly just to get my order up to free shipping level and because I figured I can always use more brushes.
At any rate here is the art I’m slowly working on. The Pokemon piece turned into a much more complex scene than I anticipated. I had not intended to put in a background… But did. She also went through three other Pokemon before I arrived at the Quagsire. And then TOO LATE I realized she has TWO flying/water types and that is so useless! Her two other Pokemon, which ended up being erased were a Frillish and Corsolla. I am very limited in which Pokemon I can draw well and I didn’t like my version of either. But Quagsires are easy! LOL! It’s going to be a watercolor painting and I’ll post it on Ko-fi when I’m done.
And this is just another update on my Wizard Cat. Haven’t worked on it a week :( But I’ll get it done eventually…
Haha! What exactly would my acrylic style even be called? Semi-flat fuckery probably.
And since writing the ABOVE, I did figure out why I am dragging ass on the R&R so much. But it’s not really helpful other than I figured it out. I managed to finish revision on one chapter and move onto the next which is going a little better if for no other reason than it’s a change of POV. So, yes, I am still working on this one thing at least. Once it’s done and sent and off my plate I can consider other things.
I also updated Ko-fi with another older piece. So check that out. It’s an anthropomorphic Meowstic which is a Pokemon.
Lastly sorry for the lack of doll photos! I haven’t taken any in a little while, but I will take some soon. I haven’t been very inspired to do much
