Presents are COMING!
Honestly just rambling on about stuff.
We made it through November!!! Congratulations everyone!! 2020 is almost over and presents are coming!!! I for one am very excited for something not horrible to happen.
Lately I have fallen down a pretty deep tarot card hole. I used to be super into them because of the art. I can do a reading for myself but I haven’t done in years. I know a fair amount about the cards. I have read books on reading them. But I haven’t invested in a deck in years and years. Mostly they are pricey. But I started drawing a Pokemon tarot card and started looking up decks again. And THEN I found out you can buy blank decks of cards to draw on! And then I found out how much those decks cost.
Stellar Factory has cheaper shipping and cheap blank decks, but they are small, the size of regular playing cards. BUT MakePlayingCards.com has tarot size blank cards and large size blank cards . BUT the shipping from them is over $20!!! For standard shipping! So I can’t afford the bigger ones right now. Or the other ones. It’s sort of a dumb fantasy of mine to draw a tarot deck. I actually started one years ago and did finish a few cards, but it was a lot of work (78 cards minimum). And now of course so many really good artists are making decks that I wouldn’t stand a chance.
I also did not realize that self-publishing decks was an option! But it is! MakePlayingCards.com will custom print decks.
During my deep dive I came across a deck done by four artist friends who formed an art collective! And I thought, that is the dream! To have friends to create with! But, just like my dream of getting to play any given table-top RPG, it is doomed to go unfulfilled. But it would be really neat (and a lot less work) to create a deck with 3 other people so you could split the suits and the major arcana up. And it be fun to see what everyone did! Obviously you’d need a common theme/imagery to go on.
And of course- please don’t forget to follow my Ko-fi account where you will get quality paintings like this one for your eyeballs! Yes, it’s more Pokemon fanart. I actually had a good idea to make money- or it would be a good idea if anyone wanted my art that is. The idea I had is: I could offer to pull a tarot card from one of my decks for a person, then I could draw a Pokemon version of the card and then mail it to the person! I think it would be fun. But no one buys my art so it’s moot. The fun part would be to draw the Pokemon tarot card on those blank cards! It would cost $10 or $15 if it ever happened. Maybe plus shipping… Stamps aren’t free… anyway, moot.
One of the tiny paintings I have in the works is the Ace of Cups featuring Slowpoke. I’m having some difficulty with the drawing but I hope it will be done by the time you read this.
A flicker landed on the deck a while back and I took some very bad photos of him! So here are some bad bird pictures!
Sometimes I wish I had a really good camera like a DSLR. Of course I’d have to learn to use a fancy camera. But it would be fun to have something that could get a good zoom. I had to tinker with these in Photoshop to bring up the colors. I never think of flickers as REAL woodpeckers (even though they are). But they are striking birds with beautiful plumage. I always think of the pileated woodpecker as REAL and I 100% believe that prejudice is from watching Woody Woodpecker as a child.
Speaking of birds, here is a lovely little story about wild parakeets (probably ring necks parakeets) foraging for chestnuts in London. Here is my favorite BBC video explaining a bit of the why Britain even HAS an invasion of parakeets in the first place

Continuing on the bird theme I thought I’d take pictures of one of my bird dolls. This is a Withdoll Owlpost Will!! And I love him! This is one of the smallest dolls I own. Usually I’m not much for dolls smaller than 26cm, BUT this cutie won my heart! He looks like a plushie because he’s in an animal kigurumi outfit. The “wings” have wire so they are bendable and he came with resin owl feet! So he is soft and squishy and adorable!

And the good times keep on rolling. More rejections are filtering in as agents get back to work after the holidays. So yay, more reminders of what a failure I am. Which I am always in dire need of to puncture that inflated sense of self-worth I have… but not… insert sarcastic voice.
In workout news you never cared about- I need this Reebok Deck Bench . The gym (I used to get to go to) had one and it’s super versatile. And this is the most reasonable price I found it for. I need to work out more.
Which leads again, to Pokemon Go complaints. I miss walking and hatching eggs and earning candy! I miss the app working. As much as it ever did without a data plan. But OMG I wish I had a data plan and a phone that worked!
