Everything is bad and weird and I hate it.
So it’s OK if the federal government owns 10% of Intel but everyone freaks the fuck out when Zohran Mamdani suggests one city owned grocery store per borough in NYC.
Hello police state:
And for more on this The Contrarian has an article
I have seen people painting watercolors on toned paper and I have been searching and searching for toned watercolor paper and I had almost given up when something crossed my Insta feed?? I’m pretty sure it was that. But long story short I was reminded of Rives BFK printmaking paper! I used it in my etching class at community college. It was the only paper we printed on. AND it took watercolor like a dream! Well, LO and BEHOLD Jerry’s Artarama has Rives BFK paper and it comes in COLORS. Well, it comes in neutrals, grey, tan and cream. In college I purchased it by the sheet- they are very large, and cut it down to fit the etching plates. So, while this is an exciting discovery it turns out Jerry’s sells it in a minimum of 10 sheets and those sheets come to whopping $54.70!! It’s not unreasonable, I just wish they had it in a 3 pack or 5 pack to bring the price point down. This month I’m pretty set on buying a bunch more Turner acrylic gouaches. That terrible watercolor paper actually takes acrylic gouache really well.
But, that’s all a me problem, not a you problem. You’re here for art! I assume… So here is how that bird turned out. Its… a thing… I haven’t flattened it out yet. I forgot. I got a good tip off insta to dampen the back of your watercolor piece, then press flat by stacking stuff on top. The paper will dry flat. It works too! I’ve done it before.
And I started a new cart in a tea pot watercolor! OK, I haven’t gotten to paint it yet. But here is a close-up for you.
I might have Halloween cards soon!! I just have to get down to the printer! I might sell them both as a set and one by one. Oops, I forgot, I’m out of card envelopes! Which means a trip to Staples :( I started looking into washi tape which is a possibility but I need to make some more money first. And get that pen tablet… And survive long enough to do something….
You survived the week!! Congratulations!
Ugh- herr dicktator is so obvious and awful about his lawlessness—it’s sickening.
A few opportunities to protest this weekend.
Birdie watercolor is sweet. Reminds me a bit of stained glass.
Yeah, too bad about the rivers being sold in 10 sheets. I remember having to deal with that (or not!).
I took printmaking at my local collage—fun, but so much process! The teacher used to let some of us play around with the presses and etching baths and all when there wasn’t a formal class, which was great.
Teacup kitties are always cool.
