Ok, the painting is happening. Slowly but surely. I haven’t had as much time as I would like. I also have to get moving on the Square Foot art show piece for this year! I am attempting the most complex piece yet. I looked at lots of folk art online, sketched house shaped things and I have a piece. I FINALLY unstuck the jar lid of my black gesso. The styrofoam topper thingie fell off and I just put the lid back on and it dried shut. But now I have some plastic wrap on top so I’ll be able to open it again. It also separated which was gross. BUT I am working on a very complex painting!
The cat is going to be a blue sky with puffy white clouds. I lost where the tail connects with body. The idea is for it to look like night with this cat being a sunny day. There is going to be flowers and leaves and stuff on the ground. Its not deep. I just wanted to do SOMETHING. Wouldn’t it be wild if this thing actually sold even though I’m going to put an absurd price tag on it? Don’t worry, I’m going to price this thing at like $280 like last year’s piece. NO ONE is going to fork over that much. And if they do- I will buy my Mildred Hubble doll! Who keeps getting pushed back due to shrunken paycheck, the purchase of the new computer, and then sending SO MUCH money on getting the pins up and going. I’ll need some more clay soon too, I’ve almost used up the terracotta. Next time I’ll get white clay!
Here is another gouache piece, done for practice. I tried out an exercise from one of my how-to gouache books but I did it in my style. Although it’s not very good. It was a really quick little painting. I can’t NOT HAVE LINES! Arg!
I do like the shirt though. Pink with earthy greens is a great color combo that I forget about.
Speaking of art and art supplies, I sure would LOVE to a ton of cash on more paint! LOL! I’m STILL trying to love acrylic- or at least make piece with it! I bought a ton of factory second birch panels at the sale and I am going to try to paint more than 2 acrylic pieces a year! But of course I just want to buy paint! Acrylics! Acrylic gouache! ALL the paints! ALL but my beloved oils… sigh… But the water-soluble oils cost as much if not more than regular ones.
Anyhow I have a new player in the Chicago VtM game so that’s great! Fun character too! They joined us while the coterie is hot on the trail of the Sabbat in Detroit. Exciting stuff. I have some plans for Thursday!
And here is a poorly drawn bookmark. She is a Vulpix gijinka but not a good one.
I wish I’d drawn longer legs. It’s an awful waste of space…
Painting looks cool! Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
