Well, I can’t afford ore watercolor paper! I want more! I decided I like hot press the most and that’s what I want! But I also want CHEAP paper! LOL! And I love the Fabriano watercolor paper fat pad which is a real bargain! I also need a smooth surface to paint acrylics on? But am I missing out on something not using canvas? The Art Department has some reasonably priced canvas panels. Should I try it all? Will anything ever replace oils in my heart? Also- how come Poscas work for everyone but me? I have a white Posca that is SHIT! It quit working after a year? I only used it a few times! And then I see all these people making AMAZING acrylic marker art and it sucks! And like literally, people’s crappy sktchbook pages on Pinterest are better than my best art! Anyway, it’s no ownder no one wants my art because there are better people out there- like WAY, WAY, WAY better.
These are all rhetorical questions and kind of dumb since I am trying REALLY hard not to spend money this month! The rest is just self-pity…. I have $264 of art supplies in my Jerry’s cart that I am NOT going to buy. It’s internet window shopping. And OMG I want more SoHo open bound Kraft paper sketchbooks, but in 8.5x11!!!!!
OK- here’s some random art. Up first, because it came out the worst, is a Tzimisce, it’s a variation of the one in my kraft sketchbook, but I took the horns off. Painted with a combo of Derwent Inktense (pan colors) with a bit of PITT marker and opaque gold watercolor. I now HATE the tattoos! I did a shit job and the ink smeard even though I gave it 24 hours to dry! Also I fucked up a bunch of areas and had to cover it and it didn’t come out good. I done a bad job…
I MIGHT take another crack at this (possible) character (for a Sabbat game that doesn’t exist…yet…) but at this point I’m kind of tired of trying. ALso I am shit at multi-media! And dear BLOB I wish I could afford Copics. And why am I so bad at everything I love?
This next thing turned out OK. I had leftover watercolor gouoache from a practice piece I don’t think I’ll be sharing… So I made some doodles/practice. I added lines with Prismacolor Verithins but it didn’t come out that great. ALso- these are the BEST goldfish I have ever drawn in my life!!!
The gouache how-to books say color pencil is really good with gouache but it came out so-so. It’s also hard to see. But I have to admit, gouache on kraft paper looks amazing, which is why it’d be cool to get a coupe bigger sketchbooks. I think I need to rethingk what I want to DO with gouache. It’s going to have to be cartony cell-shaded style stuff, because I’m not good enough to do more with it.
PLUS: Bonus nature photo! Here is the skunk that lives in the backyard! It’s very cute! But, of course, potentially very smelly. Luckily it hasn’t “gone off” lately.
Lastly I am busy with manga reviews! So this is the best I can do this week in terms of getting art to you. Which, it’s my assumption, is why 90% of you follow this thing. Well, that and I managed to bug enough on Facebook.
