Well, the ambient mold of Oregon got to my acrylics! I didn’t work on my latest acrylic in a couple weeks and the paint and the sham I use to keep my wet-palette wet molded. Gross! I’ll have to chuck the paint and run the sham through the laundry. It’s been a few tough weeks and it’s been hard to carve the time out for that paitning. I think I’ll work on some watercolor for a bit while I get the mold issue sorted out. This is NOT the first my paint has molded since moving to Oregon.
So sadly, my “Blue Skies to Grey” acrylic is still not done. I’m hoping to finish it. I want to work on several series but I am in and running too many TTRPGs. Which pays the bills- whereas art does NOT.
While I work on my life, have a gouache practice piece! Based on a photo I sketched off of Pinterest. I’m actually happy with this. The piece I did right after this is terrible! I’ll post it next week. If you can’t wait I posted it on Ko-fi and Insta. It’s a badly painted cat…
In actually leaving the house news- my cousins came up from Fresno and I went to a movie! Saw Long Legs! It was really good! Very suspenseful and I liked the lead in it. She did a good job playing an awkward eccentric, smart woman. Which we don’t get to see a lot of.
Things I liked: Tubi has an absolute banger of an Italian slasher film called Madhouse. It was filmed in Savannah GA where I went to college! LOL! I recognized a couple of places, like the big fountain in the park and a roadway where a taxi breaks down. But, it’s a hell of a thrill ride! The Tubi blurb says it was banned overseas. I couldn’t tell why. It’s not really that bad. Warnings: A very fake dog gets killed and a cat is also killed but is very obviously alive in it’s final shot. They didn’t even bother with a cat puppet. The acting is also really good and the villain chews the scenery like no one’s business. AND Netflix has a really excellent kids series that is tailor made for all D&D nerds! Daniel Spellbound It’s about a teen boy who collects rare ingredients from the magical underbelly of NYC for wizards. He himself has no magic but he’s an extraordinary tracker. He teams up with a talking pig named Hoagie to foil an evil alchemist for a bureau that keeps the magical world a secret from normies. It’s a series I wish I wrote for MG audiences but also the kind of really good, simple, effective and well built world, that reminds me why I failed at writing children’s books. The CGI animation is nothing to write home about- it works, it’s fine. I’d like it better if weren’t CGI. But you can’t have everything…
Lastly I leave you with this! Finally got it scanned it! I’ll list is for sale eventually. Probably put a heftier price tag on it than most of the others. If you can’t wait for the Ko-fi listing DM me here to purchase.
I get mold in my wet acrylics palette all the time if it is left too long.
I like your oldie night time house kitty painting.
