Ok, my paid games are bleeding players. I am nowhere near ready to run a paid Steinhardt’s Guide to the Eldritch Hunt. I need to make money again but I seem to be ill suited for anything. I am JUST skilled/talented at art enough to delude myself that I can make and sell art but I am NOT good enough to actually sell things.
Prints might do better as they have a cheaper price point so maybe people would buy my mediocrity at less than it would be to buy an originaly. But I don’t have my old Photoshop. The disc is lost and I’m functionaing on PaintNET which is quasi-garbage. Prints MIGHT come out allright though? You just have to get test prints to correct?
Other options: Start an Instagram account and sell things there. (But we all know my shit doesn’t sell… mostly because there are thousands of people who do what I do only significantly better). My thoughts for things to sell would be marker bookmarks in vynil sleeves. I did a deep dive on crafting things over the weekend. I have for years been wanting to make mint tin dioramas of little fishponds and such. But the cost of gearingup for tha seems like a lot. Part of that rabbit hole was also foam clay and airdry clay as I keep seeing people make the CUTEST little kawaii figures/statues/charms out of those. And maybe foam clay would make mint tins easy/cute? I also discovered UV suring resin is not expensive and would make perfect ponds!
So I mean, I guess, the only thing is to actually try… but anyone have thoughts on what might sell?
And to make this bonus episode worth your while-
More marker and doggo practice. The dogs are hit-or-miss at this point. I am still trying to get good at drawing them.
Doggo is darling! People like animals—although dogs can be tough since they vary so much and people have preferences.
Photoshop is subscription now—it’s a real bother for individuals. Check on line for free programs that might do some of the same things.
Selling art can be difficult. I don’t think anyone makes much money at it. Bookmarks, for instance…. Printed ones would have to sell at a low price point, and then you’d have to ship them out. You’d have to sell lots to make it worthwhile. You could sell originals for more, but how many people would pay a decent amount for a bookmark?
I wonder if doing something like putting art on something like Redbubble, where they put stuff on t shirts and notebooks, and handle the money and shipping, would be good, since you don’t have to do anything other than have the art and make it work as tshirts, etc. But there are loads of art on those type of sites.
😕
this isn’t an answer to your question, but sorry your paid DMing is at a low ebb! I think it’s really awesome that you do it , certainly I’ve never managed it.
