No Good Things Happen

The hits just keep on coming

Sigh… more things are wrong with Mattie. They (he/she we don’t know) have Borno virus which causes PDD, “an inflammatory disease affecting the gastrointestinal and neurological systems in a variety of bird species.” Meaning he can’t digest seeds, he can’t come out of quarantine and he could develop a host of other symptoms. He needs to be an only bird. He could wind up wasting away as his nerves fail. We are going to get him on an anti-inflammatory. Sadly though this means he’s also a ‘danger’ to my other foster birds. There is a small chance- it is small but still a non-zero chance, he could spread the virus to the others. We have to be extra careful about interacting with Mattie and the other birds. We are going to order coveralls! Even sadder is that my mom LOVES Mattie. Absolutely loves him! So this on top of Ted’s death (who was her brother) makes it feel like we can never catch a break.

I found this adorable article about birds, specifically parrots, video calling other parrots to make friends. Scientists Taught Pet Parrots to Video Call Each Other—and the Birds Loved It I would love to get Mattie in a program like that. But I am not a good bird trainer. I lack patience. It’s not all bad news though, Mattie has put on some weight and continues to be a total sweetheart.

Anyhow, the window has shut on the Volks FCS dolls for another while. They don’t offer the SD16 girls a lot. But I have pretty much all but given up on ever getting an FCS doll anyhow. My old ambition/goal/thought was that I would get an FCS doll for myself to celebrate getting a literary agent. But of course that is an absurdity at this point and a hope I’ve had to give up on.

Well, among all this dreariness I do have some art for you. The second 1970s inspired Pokemon Trainer I drew.

I had fun with this one. She has the same color scheme as the other 1970s trainer I drew, so that’s unfortunate. I have been on a green/orange kick lately. ALL my art this month has been going on my Instagram as I wrap up the Faketober Challenge. It’s been a great challenge and I’ve drawn a lot of types that I’m not good at, so it pushed me out of my comfort zone. Some of them I’d like to re-do and improve, but even the ones that are so-so I still learned a lot and had fun.

Things I’m watching: Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story on Netflix. Mostly because I remember when this went down and what a huge case it was. Behind You on Tubi which is a well made little horror flick. And the final season of the animated YuYu Hakusho series on Netflix. PLUS Hellbound Season 2 is out!! That’s another Netflix show and I raved about S1. Haven’t started the new season yet as I’m trying to finsish a few other shows. Reached the end of the latest season of World Trigger and I need more!!!

November may see the purchase of some more art supplies… and coughelectionresultscough. I voted! And you should vote BLUE no matter who!!! I’ve done nothing this election. I’m disappointed in myself but Sept. andOct. were the longest year of my life.
