Remember that drawing of the 1960s looking Pokemon trainer I posted last week? Well I RUINED that drawing! I tried to go full multi-media on it and I ruined it! I tried to use my very, very few Copics and I was wrong to try. Which is kind of sad…. I really need to just draw on watercolor paper ALL the time.
In writing news- the revise ans resubmit of Ink and Venom is DONE! I edited the second draft of the revision this week. It’s now with a friend who is a fast reader and can go over it quickly and hopefully tell me that I improved the manuscript. I’m pretty sure I did everything, or at least 90% of everything the agent wanted.
And speaking of art I almost ruined! Here is another drawing of a vampire. This time I wasn’t the one who almost ruined her. The Fabriano multi-media paper failed me! The inks erased when I erased the pencils underneath!! I had to re-ink a bunch of the line work and I was NOT happy. I also have a HUGE pad of that Fabriano multi-media paper. But I would have been better off with the Strathmore mixed media sketchbook :(
Anyway, I stuck to inks this time. Because the paper is too thick to let me trace the piece onto watercolor paper. I also don’t trust myself to add color pencil to this…Anyway, the character is a former heavyweight boxer from a vampiric mob family. She was turned in the 90s and wears nothing but Adidas track suits. Weapon of choice is her trusty crowbar. I was going to give her a bunch of tattoos but crapped out…
I have to say, I REALLY miss digital art. I miss being able to scan in art and add color without ruining the original.
Sometimes I think to myself: Someday when I have money I will….
And then I laugh at my foolishness.
