Hello everyone!
How are you doing? Did you have a good socially isolated Turkey Day? Are you shopping for the holidays? I’m not! I will be online shopping this year. Which is disappointing. But it’s the safest option.
Thinking about my books lately. And every book I submit to agents does worse and worse. Ink and Venom got fewer requests than the Fashion Mages and One Enchanted Stitch is so far at ZERO full requests. So in the absence of a fulfilling career I am back to looking at dolls. A lot. Since accumulating dolls seems to be the only thing I am good at so I guess I will just accumulate dolls until I die.
So what dolls do I have my eye on? Well, several. Mostly I am looking for bargains on the Den of Angels marketplace. I missed out on a Super Dollfie Cute Renee full set for $450. There is a hybrid I would like to put on layaway at Alice’s Collections, a 2D Doll head and the new MYOU anime body. technically I should maybe buy wigs/shoes/socks/eyes for everyone who doesn’t have them. In the meantime I am waiting on a doll body form Denver Doll Emporium and that one that was shipped to me from Canada, not delivered, sent back to Canada and is now on it’s way BACK to me! OMG. We have the WORST postal workers.
I am also working on a disaster of a watercolor. My masking fluid turned chunky and awful. It killed a cheap watercolor brush and I’m not happy about that. And the paper has buckled like nobody’s business. Anyway, you’ll see it soon enough when I finish it and post it to Ko-fi. I have another small watercolor which will probably be posted by the time you get this. So if you think you missed anything go to my Ko-fi and scroll away.
This will either turn out horrible or great. I won’t know until it’s finished. This little watercolor is also turning out to be tremendous trouble for a tiny painting. I’m trying to get it to look sundappled. Maybe it’ll work out.
Anyway, I’m probably going to quit my NaNo project and tackle that R&R. As a friend pointed out, I am letting fear fuel procrastination. I’m worried about blowing it. I wish I could discuss my ideas with the agent. But I’m not a client and I have yet to hear back on the 50 pages I submitted to her.
SO- update: I AM working on the R&R. I haven’t hit major edits yet. I am writing OUT a character and that is so far easy. I picked the most disposable character to ditch anyway. Though I am sad to lose her! I had to. Or at least in this version. I could maybe bring the character back in some form or other.
And I am SO SAD! I found the perfect title for this newsletter- WAY too late (you can’t change it once you name it) in my 5yr journal! I was joking that if I had a podcast it would be called “Breaking Whinge” and OMG! That would have been perfect! Why won’t you let me change the title Substack?! So sad!!!
Additionally I’m only a few days from returning to Facebook. For a limited time. I am planning to delete my account. I have GOT to spend less time on social media! It’s gotten pretty bad. I need to get more stuff done, feed my creativity not just scroll pointlessly for hours.
And, for the doll fans! Here are pics of Mizi. W (head from Flower and Junior) and Bambicrony (the body) hybrid girl. I LOVE her! And She is one of my cheapest dolls! But seriously one-of-a-kind! I got the body got $80 from the Den of Angels marketplace and then a few months later F&J offered their 3-eyed Mizi W head again! She doesn’t come up for sale very often and I’d had my eye on her for ages! So it was meant to be! I got an artist’s choice face-up from an artist on Den of Angels and she did a spectacular job!
