Ko-fi has added a shop! I am jazzed because maybe, just MAYBE I can sell some of the watercolor paintings filling up my drawers. Though why I think NOW will be any different is stoopid. Chalk it up to I NEVER LEARN THAT OPTIMISM IS POINTLESS AND DOES NOT APPLY TO ME. Basically nothing good is going to ever happen and I have to accept that my circumstances will never change, except for the constant slow downward spiral.
ANYWAY (OMG I bet you’re glad you subscribed!) With the addition of the Ko-fi Shop (har har- they named it not me, pun no doubt intended) I CAN offer the Pokemon Tarot Card commissions! If anyone wants them. By the time you read this the tarot card I drew will be up on Ko-fi so you can check it out. Consider it a sample. And I’m sorry it’s not better. I didn’t think I’d be doing anything with it. I promise once I get the commissions up and running YOUR card, if you should chose to buy one, will be be drawn and painted better. I will admit this ONLY to you, my faithful readers- that I fucked up the rainbow! I forgot the order of the colors and put yellow next to red!! And then I had to try to fix it and then I fixed it again with color pencil. I didn’t mean it to be so bright but I had to salvage it somehow. Overall the card came out OK. Better than I thought when I was painting it anyway. And Slowpoke is not a favorite Pokemon of mine.
And last newsletter I didn’t add the link to the article about the ringneck parakeets foraging chestnuts! I follow a number of Twitter accounts about birds including Wild Parrots of Oz and I am so jealous that there are places with wild parrots just hanging around outside your house! It’s amazing! And I know it’s normal in those places, but here in N. America it’s exceptional and fascinating! Not that I don’t love our birds. There is m=no such thing as a bad bird.
Another twitter account I dearly love is Vulpro. They are a rescue/rehabilitation/breeding center in S. Africa for vultures! Vultures are in dire straits and they are a critical part of of the ecosystem so please help them out!! Follow them on twitter, retweet them and if you can send them money.
SO I asked how often I should send this newsletter and the general consensus was weekly! So weekly you shall have it!
Anyway, unrelenting depression is super fun. I have GOT to come up with something other than writing or art to do with my life because no one wants either of those two things. My book One Enchanted Stitch is garbage. Every book I’ve tried to query is garbage. If my prose were any good I would have an agent by now. I just want to buy dolls and die. That’s the only thing I’m good at. I am THIS close to putting THIS doll on layaway.
ANYWAY. Have some doll photos. This is my doll Wendy. She’s an artists doll, Lapine Von Campbell by Nefer Kane a French artists. She is the same sculptor who made Iracebeth. I named her Wendy because she looks a lot like Shelly Duvall’s character from The Shining Wendy Torrence!
She is ALL kinds of a pain in the ass. Has crazy legs, a shallow head, her wig won’t stay on, getting her to site or stand is ridiculously hard etc. But damn I love her. I was so excited when Nefer Kane previewed the sculpt. I was able to get a very flexible layaway from the artist. The doll’s proportions are bonkers too, which I love! I love weird dolls! But they have to be the right kind of weird.
In writing news I am working on that revise and resubmit. It is slow going because I’m adding a character to the middle of the book and I have to write a goodly amount of new content.
Later this month- when it’s open for submissions- I am going to send art to Mermaids Monthly! In the hoped they will publish some of my mermaid art! I am sending a series I drew in 2015 but am still super proud of. Don’t worry, I fully expect to be rejected there too.
