Got another Pokemon for you! I got a Pumpkaboo in the Pokemon DND 5e game I’m in. I have caught THE MOST Pokemon in that game, but it’s because I keep running into Pokemon on my wishlist! I did go off-list for a couple- a Rockruff and Shellos/Gastrodon. I almost went nuts and caught a Drifloon but restrained myself. Oh, and the blush on the Pumpkaboo was done in Photoshop. The amount of white it takes to get a decent pink in gouache is a nightmare so I crapped out on adding the blush in gouache. I was also too lazy to go get my acrylics out of the closet.
I have gotten sucked into several Japanese reality shows on Netflix. They are… fucking amazing. Or I have lost my damn mind. Either way, here are my recomendations if you have Netflix.
1- Love is Blind: Japan. There is a U.S. version and a Brazil version but they are both WAY too horny! But Love is Blind Japan is NOT. The participants talk through a wall for a few days, propose marriage, THEN meet, then go on vacation, then live together, THEN decide if they will marry. They do a Western style wedding ceremony, but it’s not legal until the paper work is done, so it’s purely ceremonial. Only two couples made it but it was riveting.
2- Love Village: Everyone is 35 or older so it’s a mature romance show. The participants don’t have cell phones or computers. And they have to rebuild an old farmhouse together, share living expenses and cook. If one of them wants to cofess love to a housemate they go behind the house and climb a hill to ring a bell, then confess, then recieve their reply the next day. If they say yes to the confession they leave together, but if not the confessor leaves alone. It’s also interesting because on top of that drama there are two hosts watching the show and commenting in real time, Atsushi and Becky. Now- this is important for the next show- Atsushi seemed like a pretty nice guy and was repeatedly moved to tears while watching Love Village.
3- Rea(L)ove: This one is wild. Its a lot more of a U.S. show than I think I was expecting. It starts off with a narrator (which made me turn it off until AFTER finishing Love Village and then I was like- OK fine I’ll watch this). But each participant has a dark secret. Over the three days of dates and activities in Okinawa, they are randomly chosen to confess their dark secret, more often than not in front of the group. Now, this is also hosted by Atsushi and a different woman, but in this one, Atsushi is mean! The hosts immediately give the particants snarky nicknames and are kind of mean to them in the interviews. However it is a fucking RIVETING show. The dark secrets are… well, they vary wildly from normal type stuff like debt to individual fetishes. A few of the participants actually ended up as couples and some just made friends. But even the slightly meanspirited hosts are funny and appreciate that people are flawed and fully human. So it was really intersting and raunchier than the first two shows. Now, I’m kind of glad I watched Love Village before I watched Rea(L)ove because if I had watched Rea(L)ove first and seen Atsushi be such a dick I would have shut off Love Village which was absolutel ycharming. But it was also very jarring how mean Atsushi was during Rea(L)ove! So that was a surprise. The producers might have wanted something different from him on each show and he was just performing the role they wanted.
In any case there are two seasons of something called Love Wagon but it looks way to Real World. I would die for abother season of Love is Blind Japan though! And Love Village!! And yes, I would watch a second season of Rea(L)ove! OMG! Anyway I finished all these shows in about the last 4 weeks having binged them all.
Anyway, I found a sheet of watercolor paper that I had tried to draw a character on and it hadn’t worked out so I cut the paper into smaller sheets and I have a tiny crappy gouache painting for you!
I tried to add some depth with colored pencil but it didn’t go well. I also want to blend shit like watercolor and it doesn’t work that way. I am still feeling out gouache. I have ideas for two more little pieces that I might do this week. I don’t know if I’m learning or not. I think I will, but this is only the third or so thing I’ve done in gouache so I guess I shouldn’t give up immediately.
Moving continues. Slowly but surely. And no, I’m not having fun. And neither is Noodle! She is still well on the way to a full recovery but she LOATHES being manhandled and now hisses at me when I appraoch the cgae because it means getting medicated and held and wiped off. But just one more day before the bandages come off! I can’t wait! I hope Noodle will eventually forgive me.
P.S. I lied. I started watching Ainori: Love Wagon; Asian Journey. Becky is one of the panel of hosts. I fucking love Japanese dating shows. There is (I think it’s older) Ainori: Love Wagon Africa which I may go back and watch. There is also a divorced and ready mingle Korean show on Netflix that I will also 100% watch.
