Cats on Hot Tin Watercolor

Hello again!!! I hope you’ve had a good week! Mine was busy. Luckily enough I haven’t been called up for jury duty. Then I had manga reviews to finish. I read 5 books and one was a three book omnibus edition- the complete manga adaptation of Penguin Highway. I picked some good books this time though. Only one wasn’t so good.

I finally scanned in the stack of art and here is the first one. Cats on a house. It’s okay I guess. I’m not pushing enough contrast and color into my watercolors lately. Like I’ve forgotten how to do it… Probably need to brush up on my Stephanie Law watercolor books. I was struggling with what to color the cats when I remembered I can color them ANY color! OMG. Why does it take me so long to remember it’s my art and if I want a pink Siamese I can do it. There is a tiny bit of color pencil in there are well. I’m not sure WHY I keep trying multi-media when I’m not good at it and often don’t like the results.

In things I liked: Kiss of the Tarantula as riffed by Rifftrax was really funny. I have also decided that I like cheap movies from the 1970s better than I like cheap movies from today, because today’s cheap movies are all shot on video and boy howdy do they look like it! I have quit immediately on a a number of Tubi movies because of that. I think I’ve said this before but Tubi has a low bar for entry, so there’s a vast difference between the quality of films. I have also been enjoying watching some classic early 2000’s J-horror. Tubi has the One Missed Call franchise of which I only ever saw the first one so I’m excited to watch the sequels. Patient is also a great little horror movie! Lastly Love is Blind UK dropped on Netflix and it is glorious! Watch it!! I ran out of episodes in something like 3 days, I’m waiting for the finale to see which couples get married. Great Blob I wish they’d make a 2nd season of Love if Blind Japan. But LiB UK is not as horny and childish as the USA version which was intolerable. So was Brazil, which was horny and macho. Also, the UK version has a ridiculously hot funeral director. Like insanely ripped. But, if this follows the pattern of LiB Japan then only one or two of the couples will make it to the alter.

I am still budgeting for art supplies, but I haven’t bought the isometric graph paper yet. I should ask if the art supply store could get it. I can’t believe I didn’t ask them! I bought the Kuratake Gansai Tambi Art Nouveau watercolor set!! Whee! I will try them out ASAP so you can see them! It’s a gorgeous set and I’ve had my eye on it for ages. I’ve also been trying to finish a gouache painting that isn’t getting worked on while I practice acrylics. It’s a small and detailed little painting and I maybe added too much detail…

The paint in the face is blotchy and I’m not sure I can fix it properly. And look at all the tiny paintings on the wall I have to paint!! *sob* I have been putting off working on this for weeks.
