It’s Thursday again! Hello! How are you! I hope you’re all doing well!
I finally finished that acrylic- the one I was working on when the paint got moldy! It was honestly 90% done. I tried to add sunset lit clouds but I wasn’t able to get the glow right so I painted over it. But it’s done and its a thing!
The painting is called “Blue Skies to Grey” and I can go into a paragraph or so about how it’s a metaphor for depression but I think you probably get it. It’s pretty obvious and not super deep. But it’s a mood. Not sure if it’s for sale. I mean, any takers??? If anyone wants it I will sell it! This piece is the 7th of that pack of ten 8x10 canvas boards I opened. I promised myself I wouldn’t stop until I had used all of them! And I didn’t think I’d make it! But I’m working on the eighth one now. It’s just an anime girl head for practice but it might turn out pretty good. Though this week I have manga to review! I have 6 total, but one is a three volume omnibus, it’s the comic adaptation of Penguin Highway. I didn’t think it’d be that long…
My giant order from Jerry’s Artarama arrived last week!! The box of canvases went right into the garage. I may need a tabletop easel which I don’t have! Funnily enough even though I spent $150, none of it was paint! LOL! Mostly surfaces for paint! As usual I have WAY too much paint in my Jerry’s cart and will have to get rid of some once I have the money to make another order. The Amsterdam Expert Acrylic is really nice, but they have a cheap version too, which is the one I should probably be getting.
I would like to whinge for a couple minutes about Volks LA Dolpa. They have a bunch of Dear SDs available for the lottery as well as some YoSDs I would love to get. PLUS two of the One-Offs are the FSC head Diamond who I freaking love. And of course 1) I’m not going, I never have, I’ve never been able to afford it 2) Even if I got in touch with the usual supsects who I think may be going, I still can’t afford any of them! Well, I could, but it would decimate my bank account. I’ve been trying to get my money to stabalize at 6K but I can’t crack that ceiling. Once the layaway for the two Rosette’s finishes I might, but that is still 5 months away.
In game news: I would like to quit one of the games I play in so I could have more time to paint. But if I do that I really need to run a third game and boost my income. So I still wouldn’t have more time to paint. And how do people get sharp lines out of paint? Better brushes? Glazing medium? A combination of the above?
Anyhow, I’ll let you all go! More art next week! I FINALLY scanned in the backlog! I put scanning off until there’s stack.
It’s good that you are continuing to make art. Having a body of work is nice. If you have enough you can maybe collect them for prints or books, and put some up for sale.
I’m not sure I’m going to the Dolpa. I didn’t get into the Tea Party, again. Plus I haven’t been active in the BJD hobby at all—aside from dropping in to see the San Diego folk at their annual con.
