So, I got an artbook/how-to book by Camilla D’Erricco and she uses Holbein Duo Aqua Oil paints which are a water soluble oil, which Ive considered before but I’ve heard that they aren’t really like oils. BUT at this point I am desperate! I am NOT good at acrylics! Though I might try a glazing medium as my next attempt to like acrylics. I wasn’t sold on the dry retarder which made the acrylics rubbery. I may also break down and get some paper pallets. BUT, of course, the paints are REALLY expensive! And I don’t know how low-fumes they really are. Apparently you can use acrylic mediums and linseed (probably the special water-soluble oil linseed). Anyway, along with that book I got an art book by Lord Gris too and BOTH of these artists talk about the importance of (or at least how much they lov having) having a studio. Well you know what? Studios are for people with MONEY or bigger houses, or insulated garages. I have NONE of those. And I’m not getting any of them any time soon. The office/spare bedroom would be fine as a paint studio but the house is carpeted and floors are expensive! I’m not sure if a drop cloth could even save the carpet. Plus it would be messy and a tripping hazard…. I just hardwood floors! Or something…. Actually I really like the rubber floors at gyms! I would like to have that!
But, anyway, the artbook was part of a MASSIVE order I made (mentioned last week) that arrived in good time! I bought a bunch of novels and a bunch of art books, and I’m very happy with all of them.
Ok, I probably need to quit complaining because someone actually bought the Cat and Dog paintings from the tiny show! They SENT MONEY and everything! When the show is over I can mail them out after I pick them up from the store.
AND I bought a desk at an estate sale! It’s really nice- its old, but it’s SOLID AF. It has deep drawers and I am going to organize my acrylic paints and brushes and have a painting desk. We’ll see if I use it LOL! But at least I can put the tubes of acrylic somewhere.
Anyway, have pictures of the tiny art show!
