Well, yet again nothing good is happening. And let me say this with all sincerity: FUCK SCOTUS. Supreme Court Shuts Down Access to Healthcare for Transgender Youth in 27 States
This is one of two 4”x4” abstracts I painted last week. I have just been going hard on abstracts. Both of these are acrylics. So I keep flip-flopping. I’m trying to paint a quantity of abstract pieces in the hopes that a minimum of one and a maximum of three will not embarrass me.
Just wanted to play with complimentary colors with this one.
I have a third larger 8”x8” acrylic using blue and orange. It’s incredibly tedious and taking forever. It will be done this week, and after that I may have another idea or just so the same things in two other complimentary colors or make a larger one with pastels. The palette knife class coming up is also my final chance for a good abstract. By the end of this I will have at least tried a bunch of stuff? Experimented with color? Tried some new things?
This is how the collage came out. I call it a 6th grade art class project. I put it in a frame to see how it looks. It has some foam core to space the front piece from the background. I cut up a watercolor abstract that got away from me to make the ‘stones’. I was going to add more texture using the watercolor ground but didn’t. I think it would have looked gimmicky.
I will leave you with this photo of bachelor buttons. I love these flowers! Such a pretty blue. Mostly I have just been painting this week, so I don’t have much to talk about.
.
Love your abstracts. Particularly the third one with all the blobby stones and colors and textures. But also the complimentary colors one. They are all interesting to look at. (And SO much better than any abstracts I could do, but that’s not saying much because I totally suck at abstracts.). All the ideas behind yours are cool.
The bachelor buttons are fantastic. Also very painterly with the lovely shallow depth of field.
