OMG! Minor Delay on account of coup!! I had this scheduled to go out Thursday but I’ll drop it this weekend.
It’s January 2021! Not really convinced that’s a good thing. but hey, vaccines! So there’s that. But probably not for months for most of us. I am thinking June for me? I don’t know. I just can’t wait for Biden to organize shit! OMG. So is anyone actually happy it’s a new year? I posted art for Year of the Ox on my Ko-fi.
This is also going out just after my Bday! So happy birthday to me!
I get to start the Midori planner I bought from Jet Pens. It’s bird themed, of course. And it’s really cute and a nice balance of some of the features I like about the Hobonichi Weeks with a little more room to write, monthly calendar spreads and full color bird art. I did NOT turn into the Hobinichi brand snob I thought I would. But that’s more due to my lack of ability to keep a schedule. I DO still love my Hobonichi 5 year journal. Though the contents are depressing! Mostly it points how unchanging my life is and how I keep repeating the same failures year after year.
I guess one of the things I’m going to try to try to learn this year is Roll20. It’s a website and app that lets you tabletop RPG at a distance. And luckily there are a lot of Youtube tutorials on how to use it. BUT even if I learn that it doesn’t mean I have friends to play with… Anyway chances are good I’ll crap out on watching the tutorials anyway. The not-so-funny-thing about Roll20 is that SO MANY groups are looking for people RUN the game not play. So GMs are in short supply. Which doesn’t super help a newb like me.
Other things I’ll never get to do: Art of TTRPGs (table top role playing games). In art school (college) several friends of mine had White Wolf game books and I wanted to do art for them so badly! Of course I was never good enough. Not then and probably not now. Another thing was write an RPG of my own. I sort of tried a few times but don’t really know how to do it…
DOLLS! My favorite portion of this newsletter! I have until January 7th to put a Lillycat Charly on layaway and OMG you have no idea how much I love Lillycat and also how shitty the stock sales are. Lillycat has taken to offering stock sales of set numbers of dolls instead of pre-orders and it is a fucking click war AND you have to be awake at the time they go on sale IN FRANCE. I am eternally bitter I don’t own an MSD size Newt!!! So this is a chance to not have to fight the hordes to get a doll. But yea, she is expensive. But aren’t they all. I also have a lot of Lillycat dolls already. But she is one of favorite sculptors.
Art Supplies: Currently obsessed with Charvin Extra Fine Artists’ Acrylics beacuse OMG they come in SUCH PRETTY COLORS! They are spendy and French and beautiful. But I am STILL just trying to get better at acrylics.
In writing news: It was a nice change o f pace to receive a request for the first 5 chapters from an agent. It’s certainly better than the slew of rejections I’ve gotten. I’m THINKING of submitting One Enchanted Stitch to Author Mentor Match though I have little hope of it being selected by an author. It will mostly depend on if I remember to submit it or not. And I am still pondering what to do about writing, my writing career, or rather- lack thereof. Don’t really know what to focus on. I know, I know, get that adult novel done and then submit it and hope you have better luck with agents in the adult market.
Anyway. I took some pictures of my two anime style dolls, Chanchu (2D Dolls Chanchu) and Mango (Luts Kid Delf Mango). Someone on Den of Angels wanted pictures of anime dolls so I thought I’d post one on the forum. I also added a lamp to my writing desk and I think it improves the lighting for my indoor photos.
I am actually really short on MSD size wigs. I’d like to get some more, but I’d also rather buy new dolls. But also everything I like I can’t afford.
And I am still working on art. It’s just going slowly and I’m having some computer problems. The jack that the charger plugs into on my Dell isn’t recognizing the charger as a Dell charger and now it won’t charge. I can get it to work some of the time but not regularly. It needs to go to a repair shop where I HOPE they can either repair the socket (the computer fell while it was plugged in and I’m sure that’s the problem) or replace the socket. But in the meantime everything is just kind of shitty. And the repair- IF they can do it- will cost money.
